Light Years Video Two: WL || Crossing.

“Crossing” is the second track on Portland trio WL's forthcoming sophomore LP, Light Years, set for release via XRAY Records on October 28th, 2016. Over the last two years, the band has been collaborating with various Oregon visual artists to complete an accompanying film for the new record. The album tracks were split up between the different visual artists, who then created their own song-length short films to go with them. (We posted the first in this series of videos here.) The combination of these videos will create a single film, soundtracked by the album in its entirety. Light Years will be presented as a two-part “visual album.”

The video for "Crossing" is directed by Christopher Cantino and produced by Lymay Iwasaki, both affiliated with Into The Woods TV.

New Video: Amber Arcades || Turning Light.

Amber Arcades is the project of the Netherlands' Annelotte de Graaf. “Turning Light” comes from her new debut full-length, Fading Lines, just released on Heavenly Recordings. The album was produced by New York’s Ben Greenberg, who has worked with Beach Fossils, Beverly, and Holydrug Couple. Backing musicians on the record include Kevin Morby and members of Quilt and Real Estate. The music draws from indie rock, dream pop, shoegaze, folk, and krautrock idioms.

Bandcamp Track of the Day: Teen Body || Other Places.

Teen Body is a New York-based quartet comprised of Shannon Lee, Alexander French, Marcus McDonald and Alex Bush. “Other Places” is taken from their debut LP, Get Home Safe, which was released in June. Sold Out! The Next-Level Bedroom Pop of Angelic Milk.

Next-level bedroom pop project Angelic Milk is spearheaded by a Russian teen named Sarah who sings in perfectly unaccented English and recasts the genre as a form of societal menace. She mixes motifs of teen life with bondage and creepiness in a world pervaded by pink and populated with cute plushie toys. The Facebook page for the project makes it clear that the band name “actually means nothing” and describes the music as “Too lo-fi to live, too gothpop to die.”

Angelic Milk’s Teenage Movie Soundtrack EP—the lead track for which is called “Tie Me Up”—expands the scope of the project from solo to full band and brings it into a proper recording studio for the first time. Released on purple 10” vinyl a month ago by PNKSLM Recordings, it’s already sold out! (Fortunately you can get a download here.) The video for “Rebel Black” brings the EP’s third track, an excursion in superfuzzy girl group-inflected dream pop, to vivid visual life. You can acquire two earlier Angelic Milk EPs on a name-your-price basis on Bandcamp.

WTSH Exclusive Video Premiere: Daydream Machine || Alone.

When The Sun Hits is proud to premiere Daydream Machine's new single + video, "Alone." This Portland, Oregon-based project has been blowing our minds with their trippy tunes since their first release in 2013, when they unleashed their first trio of songs via Bandcamp. Soon after, they signed to Picture in My Ear Records, one of our favorite labels, and released their debut LP, Twin Idols, in 2014. Expansive, layered and psychedelic, the album was quite an achievement. We’re thrilled to share their new sounds with you.

“Alone” will be featured on Picture in My Ear's Volumes 12-inch maxi-single LP, which is set for release in a few short weeks (pre-order available here). In addition to Daydream Machine, the compilation will feature New Candys of Venice, Thelightshines of London, Stay of Barcelona, Chatham Rise of Minneapolis, and other excellent artists.

New Video: Globelamp || The Negative.

Globelamp is the project moniker for Olympia, Washington’s Elizabeth le Fey. Her music isn’t shoegaze or dream pop; it might best be described as psychedelic folk. It is very dreamy—dreamlike, actually—and quite psychedelic, and we think there will be those among our readers who really appreciate it. “The Negative” is a track from the project’s most recent full-length, The Orange Glow, and the strangeness, both delightful and unsettling, that pervades the whole album is fully unleashed into the visual dimension by the new video for the track.
