New Single: taffy | She & She.

New single “She & She” from Tokyo, Japan’s taffy has premiered on Bearded, and an upcoming full length titled Deep Dark Creep Love is slated for release on Club AC30 on July 5th, 2019. A touch of growl in the bass serves to anchor the song's sparkling gossamer layers and to propel it through a perfect pop structure topped by a melody so floral you can almost smell its sweetness. We interviewed Iris of taffy in conjunction with the release of 2017 LP Nyctophilia.

New Single + Video: Superdrone | Daydream feat. Miranda Lee Richards.

Southampton, England trio Superdrone formed in 2015 and describe their music as “neo-psychedelic stadium-drone”. They’re presently working towards release of their third full-length, on which “Daydream” will appear. The track features west coast USA singer, songwriter and recording artist Miranda Lee Richards, who graced Superdrone’s sophomore effort with the heavenly voice that first riveted attention through her work with The Brian Jonestown Massacre.

Wallflower Records Interview with Corey Savage.

Cover art for Winter’s Memória Colorida/Wherever You Are 7-inch by Vinyl Williams.

Wallflower Records is an independent cassette and vinyl concern that cropped up in Houston, Texas just a short time ago, soon to become one of When the Sun Hits’ label favorites. Wallflower’s prominence on our radar really jumped forth when we found out last fall that the label had reissued Winter’s sublime 2015 dream pop album Supreme Blue Dream in an edition free of the defect that marred side two of the original vinyl release on a different label. Good news indeed, as the error had created an itch for a proper slab of the record that we hadn’t been able to scratch for the three intervening years. Inquiring about the Winter reissue initiated our contact with Wallflower founder Corey Savage and prompted us to take a closer look at the new label’s small but already richly appealing catalog.

Debut Single Premiere: Spunsugar | I Shouldn't Care.

New trio Spunsugar have been playing gigs around their home base of Malmö, Sweden—including an opening slot for one of their major influences, Nothing—and today release their debut track, “I Shouldn’t Care”, on all major digital platforms.

A guitar texture like distant wind, thumping electronic drums, and an arpeggio outlining a few building chords form an introduction offering little foretoken of the song’s abrupt explosion into a torrent of noise and melody as ear-splitting as it is sweet. An arcing, exquisite female vocal soon appears to master the maelstrom and guide this crackling fuzz frenzy home.

Spunsugar return to the studio this weekend to record a four-track EP that will likely include “I Shouldn’t Care.” Good news.
