Lead Single "Rodion" now on Youtube
The Underground Youth are a Manchester based three piece that create a wildly exciting spin on post-punk. By treading between a heady mix of shoegaze and psychedelic rock, the band pulls together the raw sounds of past and present them in a new light.

After the success of last year's full length LP Delirium (Fuzz Club) the band have seen their popularity soar. Hugely successful tours of Europe and beyond followed. With youtube videos recently reaching 1,000,000 views, this band are more than ready to climb overground.

“The Perfect Enemy” fluctuates between wild noise inspired by The Jesus and Mary Chain and forlorn vocals reminiscent of the ballads of Bob Dylan.

Lead single “Rodion” strikes instantly with a humming guitar, informing the resilient backbone to Dyer’s grippingly husky vocals. Sharing similarities with Sonic Youth’s 2006 pop record Rather Ripped, this track proves that post-punk is not just for the underground. The driving force of the bass line, topped by a melodic upbeat riff releases a youthful vigor that is exhilarating.

Cross Posted from The Big Takeover
Review by Elizabeth Klisiewicz

Scott Causer at UK label Northern Star Records has put out a number of excellent psych compilations, and this latest entry is no exception. I’ve been listening to these 34 tracks for weeks as I attempt to absorb all this goodness, and there are numerous standouts. I mean, how can one really define the outer space, Best Coast groove of “To the Other Side” by the sublime Skystone except to urge people to surf along with them? Or how about those fantastic Aussies, The Laurels, with the fantastic opener “Tidal Wave” from their latest album? And then there is Mat Flint’s fabulous group, Deep Cut, with “Dead Inside Your Heart” from 2011’s Big Takeover favorite, Disorientation. They can deny the Lush influence, but it’s in the mix, along with The Byrds, Big Star, and a host of other jangle pop greats.

I also adore “Summertone” by The Early Morning Satellites, “In Dreams of Decadence” by Dead Parties, and the Bydsian swirl circa Gram Parsons of “Open Up Your Door” by The See See. And honestly, the list just goes on and on…
